Relaxation Massage

As the term suggests, relaxation massage is for the purposes of encouraging rest and relaxation.

The techniques used during this massage are to stimulate the body & mind to let go and to help the body & mind to be at ease by flushing away tension and increasing blood to flow.

The massage will consist of long strokes (effleurage) and a variety of smaller more specific strokes (petrissage). Effleurage can be firm or light. It works by stimulating the body and encourages venous and lymphatic system function. It is also used to warm the skin and muscles; a very important stage of massage.

Petrissage are smaller strokes and are applied with pressure. This pressure can be deep and they compress the underlying muscles helping them to release those knots and flush away the tension. Kneading, wringing, skin rolling and pick-up are all petrissage movements. These movements are slow and rhythmical and will leave the body feeling relaxed & the mind calm.
